index.htm file is the "Home Page"

HTML syntax must be correct for site to work
test locally before going live

Acquire Text and Images first before designing web pages

Website grammar:

• most important area of web page: top left
• use common typefaces
• never use columns
• preferably do not use frames
• loading times for pictures
• pictures: jpg or gif only
• "alt text" for pictures
• Home page: show date of last update and what it was
• Home page: show number of visitors
• Home page: keep simple but eye catching

Remember text will move and wrap according to space available

Browser compatibility

Animations: gif / Flash - make page more interesting (watch file size)

Uploading your site to Server - FTP program used

Consider a Domain Name for your site - advantages, cost

Inform Search Engines - but their "spiders" should find site - use Keywords

Update your site frequently to show it is active
